Roll with object

This behaviour usually occurs following the cat catching or pinning the object, either from a standing or ventral recumbent position. With the object between its forepaws, frequently pinned to the ground, the cat flexes one foreleg causing its bodyweight to shift to that side. The leg is then folded under the body so the cat drops onto its shoulder. The hindleg of the corresponding side is also then folded under the body allowing the cat to roll into a laterally recumbent position. The cat may further propel itself by pushing with its opposing hind leg.

The cat may remain recumbent on that side briefly, often batting, grasping or raking the object, before quickly righting itself using a combination of its fore paws with claws extended to pull it upright, and its hind limbs flexed under the body to push against the floor to propel it up and forward, often into another bout of play.

Alternatively the cat may move into the Belly Up posture to play with the object.
