Object Rear (may be referred to as Vertical Stance by some authors)

The cat lifts its forequarters vertically off the ground, shifting its bodyweight backwards to balance on its bent hind limbs in order to reach an object above its head. The tail hangs downwards. The head, eyes and ears are oriented towards the object.

The cat may remain in this position with its hind limbs bent or extend them to stand up on its hind paws. One or both forepaws can be extended towards the object in order to bat, poke, catch or grasp.
