Object Rake

While laterally recumbent, the cat holds an object, usually with both fore paws with claws extended, and kicks at it with its hind paws. The hind limbs are flexed close to the body and may be used simultaneously or alternately, often with toes and claws extended.

The cat often bites at the object during object rake behaviour. During bouts of vigorous raking the cat may encircle the object with its forepaws, holding the object close to its body. During more relaxed play bouts the raking may be less energetic and interspersed with rolling.
